Jameson, Keepers of the Sun, and Steelwells Video

First thing first... In less than a week we will be playing our first all ages show in Orange County since 2009! I don't care if it's on a Wednesday you little tweens better be there all decked out in Twilight gear, too much make up, silly haircuts, and raging hormones! We'd love to share at least one night with you all every once in a while.

If you haven't heard Jameson, well then I feel bad for you. When you get a chance check out some tunes on here. Super talented singer and songwriter. We are really looking forward to his set. And if that wasn't enough we get to play with Francisco The Man again?! Really?! How did we get so lucky? If you haven't heard these fools then you must go to the show and get a record. Or go to iTunes right now and buy some music! RIGHT NOW!

The next confirmed show is with our friends Keepers Of The Sun at Avalon in Costa Mesa. That isn't until March 12th but you better mark it on your digital calendars now cause we heard a rumor that every night of their Avalon residency is going to be themed... and guess what night we'll be play? The Flaming Lips themed night! Something or someone is going to catch on fire.

The last thing we wanted to talk about was The Steelwells. It's no secret that we really like The Steelwells over here at We Are The Pilots HQ, and we have unfortunately haven't seen them in a while. So we wanted to share one of their new music videos. This is for "This Dance Is Out Of Your Hands." Enjoy!

The People In Your Mind

It's been awhile...

But in our bit of time off we recorded an album, wrote some songs, partied hard, some of us traveled great distances, and some of us moved small distances. Either way we have been busy.

In some official news we asked Chelsey Coy to help us out live with vocals. We have missed having a third part to our harmonies and since Chelsey was singing on our new record we figured we should ask her to be a part of the live sets. Thankfully for us she said YES!

Recording for the next record has concluded and the mixing process is almost complete. We have tossed around a few ideas about what it will be called but very soon we will be releasing more details about these new tracks once we have everything finalized! We're getting pretty excited to share these with you. To give you a little bit of an idea of what the record will look like in term of song selection here is a list of the tracks on the record... This is in no particular order.

You Would Know
Saturn In The Sea
Caverns
Familiar Love
Bones
Pull Out Your Eyes
Over My Head

I gotta say we are pretty damn excited about these recordings. This is the first record that features the current lineup with Roozie Tehranian on drums and Garrett Sadler on organ and Rhodes piano. Easily two of our favorite people to play with ever.

So now that we have a new record, new member, and it's a new year we are all ready to take on 2012 like it's the last year humanity will ever have. End Of The World - World Tour. Our End Of The World Tour starts with a show at Santa Monica's Central SAPC. 2 days from now! Playing again with our friends in Y Luv and friends we haven't met yet... The Lucky Lonely! We are headlining so get there early and stay late. We don't care if it's a Wednesday.

See you all soon!

Jamming An Album

Hey everyone!

So despite the lack of updates we've been keeping pretty busy.  We played some great shows in April.  We recorded most of our album over a weekend in April.  And then May came and Tyler went to Canada for a month and Roozie went to Hawaii!  So our creative process too a little vacation.  But I wanted to let you know we're alive and well.

Actually check out this little jam we did in our rehersal space (minus Kyle since he was driving to New York?)

We've got a We Are The Pilots Weekend coming up!  June 11th and 12th are BACK TO BACK SHOWS! For the events pages check out these links!

June 11th with Moostache @ La Cave
&
June 12th with Becky Holt @ Continental Room

Both are FREE and seriously going to be awesome.

As far as when the album will be released... you're just going to have to check back.  We'll be releasing details like.... track names, album name and maybe some sneak peaks!  So check back soon!  Or see us at the shows!

PEACE.

Happy New Year!

Today is the Persian New Year! Woke up this morning and decided to record a little piece of music in honor of today. I think I've decided to title this chord progression something to do with New Year. Who knows.

In other news today is our move in day! We are moving into a new "lock out" where we hope we can safely store all our gear and have a dependable space where we can go to create whatever we want to create. Music? Yeah we hope so. Does anyone have an silkscreen press they don't want? We'll take it and start making our own shirts and posters. Also, we need a nickname for our new home! What should we call it!?!?!

Once we're set up in there we'll make some videos, share new music, post pictures and let you know how we do things.

We got some fantastic shows coming up in April! So check back for full details on that. LA, we'll be hitting you up in April so get ready... and by ready we mean show up and have a good time.

Peace and Love,

The Pilots.

We Started Recording Our Second Album... BUT First....

THE STEELWELLS!  They're in a contest on Rolling Stone cause they're like the next big band and shit.  What you don't believe us?  Visit that shit and rate them 5 stars and then watch them take over the world.  We are big fans, these boys have been nothing but great to us so help us return the favor!  Rally your troops and support fantastic local music.

Peace, and love.

Kyle

Time To Catch Up

News for 2011!!!

Ok ok ok... it's been a long time and we have a lot of news to share... First off we're working on a wearethepilots.com.  We want it to act as a main portal to all of our creative and media outlets.  We started hosting a semi-weekly podcast that is basically us just talking nonsense about music, people, shows, and sometimes news.  No one has really heard these lost podcasts but we'll post them as soon as the site is done.  Also the site will be connected to our facebook, myspace, twitter, youtube, music, and of course this blog.

In other big news we're seriously planning our next record.  Our very talented friend Charlie Bow has offered to start working with, producing and recording our next project.  You should probably check out his work with his band Salvae.  Also Tyler has been tracking some acoustic jams with Mr. Bow.  Check out this video of his making some shit up.

Next up... the pilots have all been donating some time into a place we've called home since we first started playing music AAA Electra 99.  We'd like to get some shows going on there again and hosting events like Jam nights and art nights.  Check this place out.

It's great and we don't want to see it go anywhere.  So if you're in a band and want to play a show, or you're an artist and would like to show your work here contact us!  AAAelectra99@gmail.com

Last but not least we have still been playing a decent amount of shows between preparing to record and some of us traveling.  We have another one coming up right now actually.  This Saturday!  We're excited to be playing on the campus of USC.  Should be a great way to spend the weekend.  Check out the event page on Facebook here!

So that pretty much gets things up to date.  We have some more exciting news we'll share with you a little later once everything is confirmed so keep checking in!  PEACE!

Goodbye Residency, Hello More Shows

We had so much fun with the Detroit Bar residency that we forgot to update this blog! Our bad. You wanna know how it went? Then check this out... OCAC. That is theOC Arts and Culture article on our residency. It was so much fun! And we really appreciate all the support.

Oh look! About the last 50 seconds of our Detroit Bar residency. Look at all those damn lasers! Looks like fun!... It was. But goodbye residency, hello future shows.

We got two shows coming up! Continental Room, November 15th with The Steelwells!
Oh my goodness. And the Yost Theater in Santa Ana on November 21st with Honeypie, and more band TBA! That show is a very special show because it is our second time we will be playing for our friends Turkey and friends that organize these MS Benefit shows! They're always great and always stacked with great bands! We'll update the site with more details once we get them!

Pretty much, we're excited about everything right now. We can't wait for these shows, we can't wait for the new year, and we can't wait to get back to writing and recording as soon as possible! We wanna share some new music with everyone!
