We Love The Steelwells

So it has been pretty calm over the holiday season on our end.  Planning on welcoming 2010 nice and right by getting awesome one last time at Tyler's house.  The place Davy, Tyler, and myself all first played music together, and formed our first band together.  We spent years in that house playing, recording, and just hanging out so it will be bitter sweet to move away from it!

In other happenings our friends The Steelwells are in the paper!  Check out their "little" article here

Got some new stuff coming up so we'll keep this updated.  Peace out!

KUCI New Music at Detroit Bar TONIGHT!

The lovely KUCI is hosting new music nights at Detroit Bar now. Tonight is a pretty good lineup with Argyle Smile, Toy Robot, The Light Rays, and The Vespertines. I would say that you should probably go to this. The venue is great and the bands will be a lot of damn fun! The pilots might be there... if I can get my car to start! Here is a link to the event page!

PS - Argyle Smile is not endorsed by this blog.

Death Hymn Number 9 @ The Continental Room

Sex, drugs, rock n' roll, and zombies! At least that is what we got when we went to The Continental Room last night to see Death Hymn Number 9. It was the first time we'd seen them but they pretty much rocked the shit out of that place while in full zombie attire and dealing with the crazy nonsensical rants from the drunk lady who was then escorted out of the bar! Our friends Kally and Adrianna came with us. Here are some pictures! Go see this band. (sorry about the crappy pictures... they're from my phone)

After the show we had to get down on some food... and where do you go after a show that melts your face off? Well In N Out of course!

Our "Friends" Music Video

Here in Orange County we have a really great music scene. People really have no idea but it really is better than most places as far as talent, variety, and support. All the bands here are worthy of attention and support so We Are The Pilots likes to point out the amazing accomplishments of our friends bands! Today it is Argyle Smile.

Argyle Smile has grown a lot in the past year. We first met them when they opened for us on our album release show in January 2009. They were only a 2 piece consisting of Jared Parsons and Dana Chambers but they have expanded their duo to a full band with keys, bass, and drums played by a small group now known as The Sunshine Bandits. This super productive band will play pretty much any show that comes their way and because of this they have played with some amazing bands in Orange County and LA... Even though we love and support them our relationship with them has taken a turn for the worst. No one is really sure where all the anger came from but despite our differences the reason for this blog post is their music video.

Argyle Smile is lucky enough to know Alex Lamb and Max Well, two of the creative genius' behind their music video for their song "Every Song." This video is so good that it was recently picked up by Fuse and featured on their website Fuse.tv in the on demand section for videos. This is pretty amazing considering Argyle Smile is an independent artist and Alex and Max are also working independently, free of any constraints except financial of course. So we hope you enjoy this video... maybe not the band so much, but for sure the video.

Snowflakes

The season is upon us...

We have surprises, new things in store for the future and some big changes coming up, but for now our new EP is currently stuck in  a computer and we have not been able to get it out!  This is what happens when you do it yourself... for cheap..

How will we solve this problem?  Good question.  I have no idea.

After a successful practice tonight Tyler and I found what we've always dreamed of.  A place where the snowflakes glow in the crisp December air while simultaneously changing colors in some sort of patterns neither of us could recreate.

Have sweet dreams.
